Dyson's Toothbrush Spits Mouthwash for You

An AI that flosses? Humanity takes another step forward (or backward).

Dyson has unveiled its latest innovation, a camera-equipped toothbrush that can floss your teeth while you brush. Priced at $499, the CameraJet is the first toothbrush to integrate a camera with its cleaning mechanism. The device's AI analyzes 28 live images per second to detect gaps between your teeth, then sprays a cone-shaped blast of mouthwash to clean them out. The replaceable brush heads feature a combination of softer outer bristles and stiffer inner bristles, while the oscillation of the head is nearly 1,000 times per second to ensure thorough cleaning.

Beyond the technical features, the CameraJet also boasts an elaborate docking station that can charge the toothbrush and refill its 12.5ml mouthwash reservoir in just three seconds. While the device can work with regular toothpaste and mouthwash, Dyson plans to sell its own non-foaming products for optimal visibility.

The integration of a camera and AI into a toiletry product marks a significant step in smart home technology. However, at $499, it remains a niche product. For those who struggle with flossing, the CameraJet could be a game-changer, ensuring both brushing and flossing are done efficiently.

Despite its innovative features, the CameraJet also raises questions about privacy. The continuous livestreaming of your mouth to your phone could be concerning, even if the images aren’t stored or sent to the cloud. Nevertheless, Dyson's commitment to creating more hygienic and efficient daily routines continues to push the boundaries of what technology can do for personal care.
