Framework has been innovating with its Laptop 13 for five years, continually upgrading the specs. Now, they’ve taken the leap with the Framework Laptop 13 Pro – a ground-up redesign that brings new features and challenges compatibility.
The latest addition includes Panther Lake Core Ultra Series 3 processors, a touchscreen display, and more substantial battery capacity. However, it comes at the cost of some interchangeability between older components, which may cause headaches for owners who wish to upgrade piece by piece.
For those willing to embrace the change, Framework offers DIY editions starting from £824 (excluding RAM, SSD and OS) up to a limited batch edition priced at £1,350 for Windows 11. The laptop tips the scales at 3lbs, making it slightly heavier than its predecessor.
Is this leap in technology worth the hassle? It certainly tests our commitment to modular design but may also set new standards in upgradeability and repairability. Only time will tell if we’ll be opening up our laptops like a Swiss Army knife or simply relying on the latest whole-package model.
