Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has stated that artificial intelligence (AI) is more likely to create jobs than replace them. Speaking at VivaTech Paris, he cited Prometheus, his new venture focused on accelerating physical manufacturing, as an example of where AI can unlock opportunities for human labour. This view contrasts with warnings from the UK's Trades Union Congress about potential job displacement due to AI.
Bezos also outlined his long-term vision for space exploration, suggesting that the Moon provides a natural starting point for humanity’s expansion beyond Earth. Technologies like electrolysis could enable lunar resources to be used as fuel, supporting a permanent presence in space.
The discussion also touched on Blue Origin's recent setback with an uncrewed rocket explosion at Cape Canaveral, from which the company is recovering and expects to resume launches before year-end.
Away from the main stage, visitors queued up to see Unitree’s humanoid robot working alongside French neuro-AI company HABS. This showcased how AI is moving beyond chatbots into physical applications in various industries like healthcare and hospitality.
