Claude Tag: Slack’s new AI sidekick

An AI that learns from your company, one Slack message at a time.

A new feature called Claude Tag is being introduced by Anthropic, allowing users to tag @Claude in Slack for insights and task assignment. This evolution of previous integrations provides persistent context and memory, enabling everyone in a channel to access a single Claude identity. System administrators control the scope of tools and channels Claude can access.

When assigned a task, Claude Tag breaks it down into stages and works through them using available tools, responding on Slack threads with its progress. It also offers an ambient mode that proactively updates the chat, keeping the team informed and following up on forgotten tasks.

This feature aims to make Claude feel like a real colleague, able to produce work in public view with greater context and understanding. Anthropic sees this as a critical part of enterprise deployments, but it’s not alone; other companies are developing similar AI solutions that tap into organizational knowledge.
