Stockholm-based startup Fika Jobs is revolutionizing the hiring process with a video-first platform that uses AI interview agents to assess candidates. The company’s pre-seed round of $4 million will fuel its expansion and prepare for a wider launch later this year.
The founders, brothers Jakob and Alexander Dubois, were inspired by their experience recruiting for their previous startup, Gaff. They observed that some qualities like grit and ambition are hard to capture in a resume. Fika’s platform combines AI with short-form video profiles to let candidates showcase these traits.
Unlike traditional platforms, Fika is designing a system where candidates maintain live video profiles, which employers can browse at their leisure. This approach could help assess communication skills and cultural fit early on, particularly useful for non-traditional backgrounds that may lack traditional qualifications. However, it also poses risks of bias based on visual cues.
The platform is free for job seekers but takes 10% of a candidate’s first-year salary upon successful hire—lower than the 20-30% placement fees charged by traditional recruiters. Fika currently has around 50 companies testing its platform, with more than 100 waiting to join.
