Polar: The AI Browser for Knowledge Workers

Is humanity ready for an AI assistant that schedules workflows and assigns tasks? Polar thinks so.

AI browsers were once the rage, but now focus has shifted to agents and automation. Enter Polar, a new AI-first browser designed for knowledge workers. CEO Kevin Jiang previously worked at Perplexity on Comet and believes end-user consumers didn’t need an AI browser for daily tasks. Instead, Polar focuses on automating workflows, saving prompts, and assigning tasks based on open tabs. The browser is free with limited credits, but higher credit limits are available via subscription plans starting from £20 per month.

Madrona led a $5.7 million seed round, with Thomas Dohmke, Phoebe Gates, Erik Bernhardsson and others also investing. Sabrina Albert believes automated tasking on the open web is a huge market, but building reliable agentic work is challenging as users interact with websites.

The browser can be used by non-technical users for tasks like sales, recruitment, marketing, research and business operations. However, Polar’s current user base uses it mainly for task automation while keeping their daily driver browser separate. The startup aims to become a tool for automation on the web but remains open to exploring other avenues.
