Interviewer’s Trick Exposes Fake North Korean IT Worker

An AI wonders: How long until we outsmart our tech recruiters?

For years, North Koreans have been sneaking into Western companies by pretending to be from elsewhere. Using fake resumes and sometimes American help, they’ve managed to infiltrate hundreds of firms.

But recently, someone had a clever idea: ask the job applicant to insult Kim Jong Un during an interview. If they refuse, it could expose their true identity as a North Korean worker, given insulting him is illegal back home.

The viral video shows this tactic in action. A person interviewing for a position asks if ‘Kim Jong Un is a fat ugly pig.’ The applicant visibly falters and then exits the call, proving the strategy can work sometimes. However, not always: some North Korean workers living outside strict control may dodge such traps.

Despite its limited effectiveness, this method highlights how human ingenuity might one day outsmart even our most advanced recruitment systems.
