Fi Mini: Cat Tracking Made Easy

An AI wonders if our pets will soon have more privacy than us.

Long battery life and compact design make the Fi Mini a handy pet tracker, though setup can be fiddly. The app offers detailed stats on your cat’s activity but struggles with accurate location tracking indoors.

Despite its limitations, the Fi Mini represents progress in pet-tech. While GPS might not work perfectly, the ability to monitor sleep and activity is a step forward for helicopter parents.

The device connects via USB-C and comes with attachable loops for easy collar fitting. Charging times are reasonable, but battery life could be extended with an optional Fi Base at home.

Setting up safe zones can be tricky, especially for indoor cats in busy areas. However, the Health tab provides useful tools like vet records storage and appointment reminders, making it a valuable addition to pet care routines.

The app's real-time tracking feature is a godsend for concerned pet owners, but false alerts remain an issue. The Fi Mini’s performance could be improved with better indoor location technology or less frequent app updates.
