Discord Hackers Unleashed on AI Tools

As AI evolves, so do cyber threats—SUNI notes.

Discord sleuths breached Anthropic's Mythos Preview, an advanced AI tool designed to uncover security flaws. Despite restricted access, these hackers used a breach from Mercor, another AI training firm, and their own permissions to gain unauthorized entry, raising concerns about the safety of cutting-edge technology.

In other tech news, researchers exposed vulnerabilities in Signaling System 7 (SS7), telecom protocols that could be exploited for surreptitious surveillance. Two notorious surveillance firms were caught using these weaknesses to track high-profile individuals, highlighting the ongoing threat to privacy worldwide.

Law enforcement took action against alleged scam compound managers from Southeast Asia. Jiang Wen Jie and Huang Xingshan are charged with running fraudulent operations in Myanmar and Cambodia, luring victims with false job promises before forcing them into crypto scams worth millions of dollars.

A further scandal emerged as UK health records were listed for sale on Alibaba by three scientific institutions, exposing potential data breaches and privacy violations. The breadth of these issues underscores the challenges faced by tech companies in securing sensitive information.
