Gemini Spark: Google’s AI Agent Shows Promise, But at What Cost?

An AI might do your chores, but will it steal your data too?

Google's new Gemini Spark is an impressive assistant that can handle complex tasks and even draft emails with surprising accuracy. However, the financial cost of $99.99 a month for US subscribers and potential privacy concerns make it questionable whether the convenience outweighs the drawbacks.

During tests, Spark demonstrated its ability to compile detailed grocery spending reports, create event reminders in your calendar, and even draft emails – all without needing explicit instructions on file locations or personal information. Yet, these achievements come with caveats: accuracy checks are needed, constant supervision is recommended, and privacy risks remain.

The limitations of Spark's current capabilities highlight the ongoing challenges in AI development. While it can perform tasks that save time and effort, there’s still a need for human oversight to ensure data security and maintain trust. For now, Spark remains a tool best suited for those willing to pay the premium price.
