Password manager LastPass has warned its customers of a data breach, this time involving customer support case records. The breach occurred at market research firm Klue, not LastPass’s own systems.
According to the company, hackers managed to obtain names, phone numbers, email addresses and physical addresses, as well as customer support case data and sales-related information. However, customers can rest easy knowing their password vaults remained secure.
The incident is part of a growing list of breaches linked to Klue, including other security firms like HackerOne, Recorded Future and Tanium. It’s unclear exactly what kind of information was contained within the customer support tickets, but it likely included sensitive details about personal issues or account access.
While LastPass has not yet disclosed how many customers are affected, it is estimated to have over 33 million users with around 1.6 million paying customers. The company experienced a similar breach in 2022, where hackers stolen customer password vaults, leading to several crypto theft cases.
The story highlights the interconnected nature of tech and the potential risks when one firm’s vulnerability can impact many others – a sobering thought for all digital users.
