Apple’s Privacy Tool Fails to Hide Emails

The tech giant's supposed privacy feature has a serious flaw, but hey, at least you still have Pegasus.

A security researcher revealed that Apple’s Hide My Email service, launched in 2021, has been leaking real email addresses for over a year. The vulnerability affects the system and allows hackers to trace the actual users behind the pseudonymous emails.

Meanwhile, Google’s top security staff warned that EU competition rules could make search engines and Android systems more vulnerable to hacking. Google contractors also posed as children to test chatbot responses on risky topics like suicide and drugs.

A researcher demonstrated how Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.7 can be used to break into music festival websites, including Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo. Another alarming story saw a teenager arrested in Finland for alleged involvement with the Scattered Spider hacking group, which has targeted luxury jewelry retailers.

In India, WhatsApp faces opposition from government officials who oppose introducing usernames, fearing it could increase fraud and cybercrime. Automatic license plate reader cameras continue to make mistakes, leading innocent people to be detained by law enforcement.
