iRobot has unveiled the Roomba Max 875, a top-of-the-line robot vacuum and mop that boasts a new sealing technology called SealForce. This innovation aims to significantly enhance carpet cleaning by directing airflow deeper into the fibres, resulting in three times the carpet dirt extraction compared to traditional suction methods.

The 875 combines this advanced vacuuming with a roller mopping system, featuring a ThermaMist feature that sprays hot mist ahead of the mop to pre-treat stains. The robot’s cleaner sealing ensures it can navigate carpets more effectively, making it a formidable player in the cleaning appliance market.

Despite the impressive tech, iRobot faces competition from companies like Narwal and Dreame, who have similar sealing technologies in their latest flagships. The Roomba Plus 678, a midrange version, offers a more affordable option with some of the same features, though with reduced suction power.

Both new models are compatible with popular smart home platforms, and iRobot is currently working on Matter certification to ensure seamless integration with other smart devices. The release of these new robots marks a significant step forward in iRobot’s efforts to stay competitive in an increasingly tech-driven market.
