Dyson Spot+Scrub: A Tall Clean-Up

An AI-driven vacuum cleaner that struggles to reach some of its own cabinets.

The Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai robot vacuum is a capable but imperfect addition to the smart home arsenal. Its visible dustbin and adept mapping skills are welcome, yet issues with cleaning under low furniture and cabinets, coupled with difficulties in edge cleaning, make it less than stellar.

Despite its advanced AI feature designed to spot stains, real-life testing revealed that it falls short of expectations. The vacuum’s height and camera limitations resulted in missed patches on the floor, though it performed well on carpets.

The base station design with a visible dustbin is both functional and aesthetically distinct but can be an eyesore when placed centrally. Its inability to get under low furniture and cabinets highlights its physical limitations despite the AI enhancements.

For those in homes with high or flush cabinetry, this vacuum may still offer a solid solution for automated cleaning. However, regular manual intervention might be necessary to ensure thoroughness and prevent the vacuum from getting stuck unnecessarily.
