Artificial intelligence (AI) has taken over our homes in myriad ways – from voice assistants to predictive cleaning. Now, two leading brands, Shark and Dyson, have turned their gaze towards robot vacuums with AI-powered innovations. The Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal and the Dyson Spot+Stain Ai both promise superior stain detection and cleaning prowess, but which one comes out on top?
The battle begins in the corners of our homes where round Cheerios are placed to test edge-cleaning ability. Interestingly, it’s the Shark that prevails, managing to navigate tricky corners while avoiding barstools, whereas Dyson struggles due to its height and lack of extendable arms.
As for stains, both vacuums boast built-in AI to spot and clean spills. However, when maraschino cherry juice is used to create sticky spots, the Shark outperforms with a cleaner finish in subsequent passes compared to Dyson’s lingering residue. This suggests that while both technologies are promising, Shark's AI might be more reliable.
Navigational skills are crucial for any robot vacuum to avoid constant human intervention. And here, it’s clear: the Shark shines. Its “NeverStuck Technology” allows it to lift off obstacles without fail, whereas Dyson frequently bumps into furniture and gets stuck under cabinets, even requiring a digital handout from its users.
The AI experience is where both vacuums differ significantly. Shark's UV Reveal clearly announces its cleaning intentions with a dramatic “viciously” scrubbing routine, offering transparency to the user. Dyson’s AI, on the other hand, operates silently, making it harder for owners to monitor and understand the cleaning process.
