Thanks to a recent update, Google Home now offers “instant account-relinking prompts” if your smart home device goes offline due to an expired partner link. This means users may be able to get their devices working again with less troubleshooting.
The new feature is part of Google’s “Home Vitals” program, designed to help developers identify and resolve connection issues proactively. For users, this could result in faster, more stable device connections through the Home Vitals website.
Google has also improved Gemini, its voice recognition technology, making it better at distinguishing standalone commands from follow-ups, reducing unnecessary questions. Additionally, Google Home’s response time has been significantly boosted—up to 1.5 seconds—for basic commands like turning on lights or setting timers. These improvements are currently only supported in English, French and Spanish.
Overall, these updates should make interacting with your smart home devices a smoother experience, cutting down on the frustration of connectivity issues and slow responses.
