Google has rolled out an update to its Google Home devices that brings the voice assistant Gemini 3.1 and enhanced camera controls.
The new version of the AI, named Gemini 3.1, promises to be more adept at interpreting complex commands, potentially making interactions with smart home devices smoother and more efficient.
Home users who have signed up for early access should already see the update. Google initially launched this model on other platforms in February but has now extended it to its smart speakers, allowing them to handle multi-step voice commands more effectively.
The Ask Home feature is seeing a broader rollout too; soon, users will be able to interact with their home devices through the web interface as well, enabling conversation-based checks of camera history and automation setup. This marks an expansion from the app-only availability seen before.
While these enhancements may not revolutionize daily life immediately, they represent another step forward in making AI more intuitive for everyday users.
