Soundcore, Anker's audio brand, has delivered on its promise of top-tier call quality with the Liberty 5 Pro and Liberty 5 Pro Max. These earbuds use Anker’s new Thus chip, offering superior noise cancellation and making calls sound crystal clear – a feat previously only achievable with premium brands like Apple.
The Liberty 5 Pro and 5 Pro Max sit in the high-end bracket at $170 and $230 respectively. Despite their hefty price tag, these earbuds are identical save for a minor difference in case design. The 5 Pro comes with a useful front screen for adjusting settings, whereas the 5 Pro Max boasts an AMOLED display with additional note-taking capabilities.
Comfort is paramount; the earbuds’ slim housing ensures a secure fit without compromising on sound quality or battery life. An initial bass-heavy profile can be adjusted to personal preference, and LDAC support adds to its high-res audio compatibility. The real star, however, is voice call performance – so good that even background noise from traffic or singing kids remains a mere whisper.
Despite these impressive features, some may find the default sound profile requires tweaking for optimal enjoyment. Nonetheless, if you prioritise clear calls over perfect sound, the Liberty 5 Pro could be your new go-to.
