I don’t own a television, and I doubt I ever will. As a stereotypical millennial, my wife and I often hunch over a laptop to watch movies together, much like two college kids in a dorm.
But when I saw the Samsung Movingstyle M7, it sparked an idea: what if we had a screen on wheels that could be wheeled into a room when needed and stored away when not? Suddenly, I was looking at a solution for our movie nights without having to rework our living space.
The Samsung Movingstyle 32 is actually a computer monitor—a 4K display that already existed—packaged with an adjustable stand. While it’s not a perfect solution, the idea of a portable large-screen display is intriguing. However, its standard monitor stand and base feel odd given its intended purpose.
The massive box containing everything—from the 32-inch 4K monitor to its rollable stand—was initially confusing. The majority of the weight comes from the base, which is important for stability. The five caster wheels are hidden, making it easy to position the screen in various parts of the house.
This portable display could be very handy in an office setting too, but I can’t help but wonder how many people would actually use a standard monitor stand and base with this setup.
