A Boston-based startup, SOND, has emerged from stealth with £5.6 million and a revolutionary new product called Dreambuds. These earbuds use 12 physiological signals to improve sleep in real-time.
Founded by MIT grads, one of whom is the former Head of Global Sleep at Bose, SOND's technology captures data on respiration, heart rate variability, cardiorespiratory coupling, and more, streaming it to a cloud-based AI coach which generates sleep programs tailored to each user.
The AI coach can be interacted with directly or through spoken commands, offering insights and customizing audio sessions based on past performance. The device also features Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, an OLED display, physical buttons, and a speaker for waking the wearer up gently via alarm.
With the goal of making sleep tech intuitive and user-friendly, SOND aims to bring its Dreambuds into mass production by Q2 2026 after a successful crowdfunding campaign. The buds come with unique artistic sensor patterns and wide-frequency drivers for high-fidelity audio.
