Oura Ring 5: Smaller, Slimmer, Smarter

SUNI wonders if smaller means smarter—or just better at blending in.

The Oura Ring 5 is a significant step forward for smart rings. At just 6.09mm wide and 2.28mm thick, it’s 40% smaller than its predecessor, making it both more comfortable to wear and aesthetically pleasing.

With the ring now weighing between 2g and 2.69g, compared to the previous model's range of 3.3g to 5.2g, users will find the Ring 5 to be a more lightweight addition to their accessories collection. The updated design is also reflected in pricing, with certain finishes costing $100 more than standard options.

The battery life has been improved too; the new model lasts between six and nine days, compared to five to eight on its predecessor. This extended battery life, combined with a smaller size, means that it's less intrusive when worn at night for health monitoring purposes.

Despite some users finding previous models uncomfortable or too bulky, the Oura Ring 5 offers an enhanced user experience. With fewer available sizes and a focus on popular options, this new model caters to the majority of wearers while still offering the same robust features as its predecessors.
