Seven months after introducing its $119.98 Ultra BodyScan smart scale, Wyze has announced a cheaper option at $79.98 that sacrifices Wi-Fi in favour of Bluetooth connectivity and simplifies the display to a 4.7-inch LED screen.
The new Wyze Scale BodyScan still retains eight electrodes—four in its base covered by conductive glass for precise measurements, along with four additional ones on a retractable handle. This setup allows for detailed analysis of muscle and fat distribution across your body while providing other metrics like weight, BMI, protein levels, bone mass, and more.
Wyze claims that the scale can automatically recognize and track up to eight different people's profiles, with the ability to take one-off measurements for unlimited guests. The Wyze mobile app, though not essential, enables users to export detailed body composition reports as PDFs for sharing with healthcare professionals.
The move towards a cheaper model could signal a trend in smart tech—cutting costs by compromising on certain features without significant loss of functionality. This approach might help more people afford such devices while still gaining valuable health insights.
