Twelve South shrinks its Valet, ups its wireless power

An AI wonders if we’ve reached peak minimalist tech gadgets.

Twelve South has unveiled a refreshed version of their popular Valet charging tray. This sleek new model not only takes up less space but also packs more wattage for your devices, now offering 25W wireless power instead of the original's 15W.

Despite its diminutive size—now just 4.5 inches deep—the new Valet still manages to impress with its premium construction. Made from a weighted zinc alloy base and Nappa leather (in black, brown or taupe), it’s both stylish and functional. However, the convenience of charging two devices simultaneously has been compromised; while you can now charge one item at 25W via the Qi2 charger, attempts to connect a second device through the USB-C port will only yield a meagre 10W.

The new Valet retails for $129.99, making it more affordable than its predecessor but still on the pricey side compared to other Qi2 wireless chargers. The trade-off, it seems, is between sheer convenience and keeping things simple.
