Samsung’s next-gen HDR technology, HDR10 Plus Advanced, is launching this month exclusively on Amazon’s Prime Video. The feature promises more precise HDR optimization and intelligent motion smoothing, making viewing experiences even more tailored to content.
While Samsung avoids paying Dolby’s fee for its stamp, the tech giant's new TVs could edge out competitors like Hisense, Philips, and TCL, which are also supporting Dolby Vision 2. However, only selected titles will initially support HDR10 Plus Advanced, with Amazon’s series Ride or Die among them.
The launch comes after Disney Plus in Europe temporarily lost Dolby Vision due to a patent dispute, highlighting the ongoing battle for dominance in high-fidelity video streaming. Both formats aim to enhance motion clarity without the artificial 'soap opera' effect that can disrupt films and TV shows.
More details will be shared as supported content providers like Peacock and Canal+ integrate the technology into their offerings, but Samsung’s new TVs are set to offer a compelling choice for HDR enthusiasts ready to explore the next level of visual fidelity.
