Sonos has introduced live music controls directly onto your iPhone lockscreen, answering user demands for seamless control. While some features like album art remain absent, the update provides basic playback information and controls without fully unlocking your phone.

CEO Tom Conrad hinted at this feature last year but faced backlash after a major app update in 2024. Users now have to enable Live Activities manually through the Sonos app settings or iOS’ system preferences.

The activity appears briefly after initiating playback, showing where audio was last played and what you’re listening to. It vanishes automatically after 15 minutes of no activity. Support for Apple Watch and CarPlay is included but offers only display without controls on those devices.

Sonos continues to explore ways to enhance the lockscreen experience, leaving room for future improvements or integrations with other devices.
