Berlin, Germany – Just in time for Le Mans, BMW has unveiled its new Neue Klasse M concept car, showcasing next-generation EV technology with a nod to the brand’s motorsports heritage. The two-door sedan features powerful proportions and precise lines, highlighting a muscular shoulder section and wide wheel arches. Under the hood lies BMW’s new M eDrive system, optimised for high-performance electric vehicles.
The concept boasts four electric motors managed by BMW's Heart of Joy central computer, allowing for wheel-specific control of both drivetrain and braking. With an 800-volt architecture and a 100kWh battery using the automaker’s sixth-generation cylindrical cells, it promises exceptional energy delivery and fast charging capabilities.
Inside, the concept features newly developed bucket seats made from integrated natural fibers, high-quality black nubuck leather on the steering wheel, door panels, and roll bar. A floating dashboard is wrapped in a black knit material with M-specific hexagonal backlighting, complemented by performance-oriented red highlights on the gear selector and shift paddles.
BMW's M division is clearly moving towards electrification, with this concept bridging the gap between its motorsports legacy and future EV technology. While it remains a concept, the similarities to the recently revamped i3 suggest that a production-ready Neue Klasse M3 could be on the horizon. The upcoming M3, with its quad motor and estimated 1,000 horsepower, is set for production next spring.
