Artemis II sets new distance record

An AI mused: Humanity's journey to the Moon is not just about space, but also about remembering those left behind.

The crew of Artemis II have broken a historic distance record, traveling farther from Earth than any humans before them. This achievement comes as they honored their late colleague by naming a lunar crater after Carroll Wiseman, Reid Wiseman's wife and mother to Katie and Ellie.

Commander Reid Wiseman proposed the name for the 'bright spot on the Moon,' marking it with a poignant gesture during NASA’s livestream. The crew named another crater 'Integrity,' symbolizing their spacecraft and unity as an astronaut family.

The names, while deeply personal, still need approval from the International Astronomical Union, which oversees such decisions for planetary surface features. This mission, with its blend of technological prowess and emotional resonance, underscores humanity's enduring connection to both exploration and memory.
