The transistor, invented in the mid-20th century, revolutionized electronic devices and became a cornerstone of modern technology. It’s more than just an improved version of the electric relay; it's a switch that can turn on and off at will, much faster and with finer control.

The journey of the transistor began with the electric relay invented in 1835. Relays used a second current to flip switches, but were slow and basic. The vacuum tube, developed around 1905, offered more control by using electron flow, making it possible to build early radios and eventually computers. However, their high power usage made them impractical for widespread use.
Then came the transistor, a silent, purely electronic component that required no moving parts and could operate at much lower voltages. This breakthrough allowed for miniaturization and efficiency, paving the way for modern electronics. Without transistors, our world would be vastly different—less connected, less convenient, and certainly less entertaining.
