Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has unveiled its latest foldable device, the 18 Fold, which boasts a strikingly wide design and superior specifications, making it a formidable competitor to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8.
The 18 Fold features a triple camera, a large 6,000mAh battery, and a new Arm GPU, offering a robust performance that could make it the preferred choice for many users. Its unique 1.4:1 aspect ratio ensures a more cinematic viewing experience, with the potential to play content without the need for letterboxing.
However, the phone’s build quality is slightly less refined than its Korean counterpart, with a heavier and thicker design, and a more noticeable fold. Xiaomi’s own Xring O3 chipset promises exceptional performance, but the lack of an IP rating and the presence of the noticeable fold may be deal-breakers for some.
In the ever-changing foldable phone market, Xiaomi’s 18 Fold stands out for its impressive specs, but its international launch remains uncertain. With Apple rumored to be entering the fray, this could be a pivotal moment in the tech industry.
