Spotify is extending its partner program for podcasts to 35 new regions, including Italy, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Poland, Chile, the Dominican Republic, and the Bahamas this fall. This expansion makes it easier for creators to earn money from both audio and video podcast impressions, whether they’re listening or watching. The move is Spotify’s biggest geographical expansion for this program so far, and it comes on the heels of increased video podcast consumption and payouts for participating shows.
The eligibility criteria for podcasters wishing to earn revenue from video podcasts has also been updated, requiring a minimum of three episodes online, 2,000 consumption hours, and 1,000 engaged audience members for the last 30 days. This change has seen an average boost in consumption of 45% in participating shows. With this move, Spotify is showing no signs of slowing down in its mission to support and grow the podcasting community worldwide.
