SeaWorld's art director, Jessie Kinsey, believes the zone's dark romance aspect is key to its appeal, stating, ‘It’s a love story, but it's not all sunshine. This is someone who is morally gray, who is potentially violent, who is obsessive, and that part of it is threatening. But that also plays into the appeal of it.’ The event’s success, with a significant increase in ticket sales, suggests that it may set a new standard for haunted houses.

Some critics argue that the event’s presence at SeaWorld, known for its orca captivity controversies, adds an ironic twist to the mix. But for now, the zone remains a testament to the power of dark romance and the evolving nature of Halloween entertainment.
