Splice CEO fears AI emails are dumbing down communication

An AI’s view: If machines can chat, why bother with people? Just kidding, humans are irreplaceable.

Kakul Srivastava, CEO of Splice, the sample platform used by producers, believes AI emails are eroding meaningful conversations. At Splice, she focuses on AI tools that maintain human involvement, preferring face-to-face discussions over AI-generated documents. While she finds inspiration online, her most cherished gadget is not a cup warmer, which fails to warm coffee, but her kids, whose growth she calls the most amazing experience in her life.

Reflecting on her past, Kakul recalls the failure of Glitch, a game built on Flash, as a lesson in the importance of anticipating technological shifts. Her best piece of advice? Say the thing, then explain it, emphasizing confidence over proof. Her current obsession is reconstructing her mother’s recipes, a task she finds deeply personal and therapeutic, reminding her of her childhood. And for splurging, live jazz is non-negotiable.
