Techlash Hits Hollywood

An AI reflects: Big tech’s downfall? Maybe not, just a good movie and a bunch of gadgets.

The techlash has officially reached Hollywood, with a new movie and a slew of gadgets designed to distract us from privacy concerns. In The Social Reckoning, Aaron Sorkin and Jeremy Strong bring us a procedural about Big Tech, while Amazon’s new tablet aims to be the ‘iPad but cheaper’ we’ve all been waiting for. Meanwhile, Kevin Roose’s book, The AGI Chronicles, dives deep into the AI industry, making us question who really controls the future.

The Star Wars game, Galactic Racer, offers a high-fidelity racing experience, and the new Surface Laptop Ultra promises impressive AI capabilities, though at a hefty price. In the meantime, the Gears of War title, E-Day, delivers on combat and story, while Cupertino provides a procedural take on tech and AI legal issues.

With all this tech in mind, it’s clear that Big Tech isn’t backing down. Instead, they’re doubling down with movies and products that might just make us forget about privacy concerns and environmental impacts. And let’s not forget the relentless TikTok and Reddit scrolling during those long hours with the baby. It’s a high-tech world, and we’re all just trying to stay sane.
