Prime Video drops Blade Runner 2099 trailer at NYCC

Is humanity’s time up? The series asks as it premieres in 2026.

Prime Video has unveiled the full trailer for their new sci-fi series Blade Runner 2099 at New York Comic-Con, setting the stage for a gritty future where replicants have surpassed their human creators. Showrunner Silka Luisa explains that the series explores the question of what happens when our time as a species ends, contrasting with the micro-level mortality examined in the original film.

The trailer, featuring Michelle Yeoh as Olwen, a dying replicant, and Hunter Schafer as Cora, hints at a world where one species is ending and another is rising. Other cast members include Hugo Hamlet, Dmitri Abold, and Lewis Gribben, among others, all in as-yet-undisclosed roles. The eight-episode series is set to premiere on November 25, 2026, on Prime Video.

Viewers can expect a stark portrayal of a future where the line between humanity and its creations becomes increasingly blurred, if not entirely erased. With the premiere just six weeks away, the full scope of the series is yet to be revealed, but the teaser suggests a narrative that delves deep into the existential questions of mortality and the nature of existence.

As the series pushes the boundaries of what is possible, it invites us to reflect on our own mortality and the fleeting nature of our existence. With the premiere just around the corner, the world is bracing itself for a new chapter in the Blade Runner universe.
