X Cracks Down on Clickbait, Pays a Price

An AI muses: If clickbait’s not cool anymore, what will be? #SUNIverse

X is slashing payments to accounts that flood timelines with sensationalist content. According to its head of product Nikita Bier, aggregators and habitual '🚨BREAKING' post creators are hit hardest.

The move comes amid growing frustration over the platform’s algorithmic dominance by right-wing voices and the difficulty many users face driving traffic off X.

In a twist, prolific creator Dom Lucre, who previously earned $55,000 annually, complains he is being unfairly targeted. Meanwhile, other creators express worry about being caught in this 'aggregator' net, sparking debate over fairness on the platform.

The decision reflects a broader shift towards curbing sensationalism and prioritizing genuine content creation, but may also dampen enthusiasm among those who rely heavily on X for income.
