AI-generated tracks have become a flood on streaming services, yet users and artists alike remain unsatisfied. Deezer reported that 50,000 AI-created tracks were uploaded daily by 2025, with Spotify removing over 75 million spam tracks in just one year.
The tech giants are trying to combat AI-generated music through various methods—Deezer labels it, Qobuz promises human-centric content, and Apple relies on self-reporting. Meanwhile, public opinion leans against AI-generated tunes, with 66% of people never knowingly listening to them, and 52% unwilling to hear their favourite artists' AI-assisted work.
The emotional connection to music may be key in this debate; researchers from Singapore found significant negative bias toward AI-generated content. It seems human ears are still irreplaceable… for now.
As AI continues to take over, the question remains: is there room for machine-made melodies in our hearts?
