reMarkable’s Paper Pure: Back to Black and White Basics

For reMarkable, simplicity in design is not just a choice—it's a commitment.

After venturing into color displays with the Paper Pro models, E Ink tablet maker reMarkable has returned to its foundational roots with the monochrome Paper Pure. This new $399 device is designed for those who prefer a clean and uncluttered interface while working on productivity tasks.

The Paper Pure boasts a 10.3-inch display, matching that of the previous model but with a wider frame said to enhance note-taking and reading. Despite this change, the resolution remains constant at 1872 x 1404 pixels, maintaining a pixel density of 226 PPI. The tablet also sees an increase in storage capacity from 8GB to 32GB and has shed an impressive 40 grams while gaining more battery life.

In line with contemporary demands, the Paper Pure now supports web apps and integrates seamlessly with collaborative tools such as Slack and Miro, making it easier to share and convert handwritten notes into typed text. The company's Connect service, which provides cloud storage and exclusive templates, has seen a strong uptake, with over 3 million devices sold so far.

As reMarkable phases out the monochrome reMarkable 2, the Paper Pure is set to lead the line, promising enhanced responsiveness and more efficient note-taking experiences. The tablet will begin shipping in early June, ready for its next chapter in the world of digital notetaking.
