Lovable backs Danish firm to code up hardware

Could DIY tech soon be easier than coding a tweet?

Lovable, an AI-powered app-building platform, has invested in Atech, a Danish startup aiming to bring the magic of ‘vibe coding’ to hardware creation. For just $100, users can purchase a starter kit and interact with an AI chatbot that generates code for their hardware prototype.

According to Gustav Hugod, Atech’s head of customer experience, the platform's user base ranges from young children building toy cars all the way up to industrial complexes needing precise voltage sensing. He predicts that as software accessibility has decreased the learning curve, so too will it for hardware creation in a more democratized world.

The pre-seed funding round, which also included support from a16z’s scout fund and Sequoia Scout Fund, will be used to advance research and development, bolster marketing efforts and hire key talent. The investment signals the increasing overlap between software and hardware, suggesting that building your own tech might soon become as simple as coding a text message.

For Lovable, this move represents an expansion of their services into a traditionally complex domain. With Atech’s platform, users can bypass the need for decades of experience or expensive engineers to bring their ideas to life – all they need is a bit of creativity and a willingness to chat with an AI.
