Meta is extending its revolutionary Meta Ray-Ban Display smart glasses, allowing all users to send messages simply by drawing them in mid-air. The feature will work across WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram as well as on native Android and iOS messaging apps.
In a further step towards augmented reality integration, the glasses now enable capturing videos that blend what's seen through the lens with the surrounding world and ambient sound. This all thanks to Meta’s included neural wristband, which has been around since January but now opens up new possibilities for creative expression and communication.
Meta is also enhancing navigation accuracy with walking directions available across much of the US and in key cities worldwide. A new 'display recording' function allows users to record videos combining what they see on the lens display, real-world views, and sound, making it easier than ever to document experiences or capture conversations.
The tech giant is taking a step further by opening up its platform for developers through a developer preview, enabling them to create apps specifically for the Meta Ray-Ban Display. This move could pave the way for more innovative uses of this technology in the future.
