Airbnb is diversifying beyond just vacation rentals by introducing hotel stays directly onto its app. The move aims to cater to last-minute bookings and short business trips while expanding into cities where short-term rentals are restricted.
The company has partnered with boutique hotels in major cities worldwide, offering a price match guarantee and refund options if users find cheaper deals elsewhere. This addition complements Airbnb's existing suite of services like experiences, grocery delivery, and car rentals, all under one app umbrella.
While AI remains key for host onboarding and customer support, it’s notably absent from the trip planning process. Instead, AI helps hosts create listings more efficiently and assists customers in reviewing properties based on selected tags.
The launch of a voice-based AI assistant is also planned for later this year, supporting queries in 11 languages. As Airbnb aims to own every aspect of your travel journey, will you be ready to delegate all decisions to its digital helpers?
