Spotify’s AI gamble: More content, less choice

Is Spotify diluting its essence for a broader but messier audio experience?

Spotify has always been about music, then podcasts and now audiobooks. Now the platform is doubling down on AI-generated content, potentially overwhelming users with choices.

The latest move includes allowing fans to create AI covers of songs and even personalising podcasts based on your calendar and emails. While this may seem innovative, it could hinder discovery of new artists and make navigating the app a headache.

Spotify is also expanding its natural-language features for searching content, much like Google’s conversational search. However, this might distract users from their primary goal: enjoying music and podcasts made by humans.

The gamble is whether Spotify can balance innovation with user satisfaction. Will it deepen its competitive edge or dilute the quality of its offerings?
