Meta has launched its new Forum app for iPhones, combining the features of Reddit, Facebook Groups, and Google’s AI into one platform. The app aims to enhance user experience by integrating these disparate elements under one roof.
The app automatically pulls in groups you’re part of on Facebook and populates your feed with posts from those groups, alongside suggestions from other groups. An AI chatbot is available within the 'Ask' tab, providing responses based on content from various Facebook groups, much like Google’s search results pulling from Reddit.
While familiarising myself with Forum, I found it interesting how seamlessly these elements merge together. It’s a testament to Meta’s ability to innovate and adapt, even if some of its previous attempts have faltered.
Overall, the app seems to offer a convenient way to engage in group discussions and find relevant information quickly. However, with features reminiscent of Reddit but housed within Facebook’s ecosystem, users might wonder about privacy implications.
