Oppo’s Bubble: A Round Trip for Selfies

Is this the future of rear-facing selfies, or just a quirky accessory?

Oppo has unveiled an innovative new device called the Bubble, designed to help users take better selfies using their phone’s rear cameras. This small round screen allows you to frame your shot live and control the shutter remotely, but it works only with select Oppo models.

At 7mm thick, the Bubble features a sleek AMOLED display and a 550mAh battery, currently priced at 499 yuan (around £73). However, its compatibility is limited to a handful of Oppo devices, requiring users to add a magnetic case for a secure attachment.

While some might see it as a clever solution for those who struggle with traditional front-facing selfies or want better camera quality from their rear lenses, the Bubble’s limited use may make it more of a novelty than a necessity. For now, its global release remains uncertain, and only time will tell if this quirky accessory catches on.

For those interested in exploring the world through their phone’s back lens, the Bubble offers a unique angle – literally. Its wireless capabilities allow for distances up to nearly 33 feet, but the need for specific Oppo devices might limit its appeal beyond China. Whether it’s a game-changer or just another tech toy remains to be seen.
