The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued surprising recalls of several brands of chocolate marketed for 'sexual enhancement', revealing that they contain undisclosed drugs prescribed for erectile dysfunction. Brands like Boner Bears Chocolate, DTF Sexual Chocolate and Lovion Chocolate With Ginseng for Men are among those affected.
These products are sold online under various names, some even claiming to be all-natural or containing herbs such as pau de cabinda powder, traditionally used to enhance libido. However, the FDA has advised consumers not to purchase these chocolates because they contain sildenafil and tadalafil, the active ingredients in Viagra and Cialis.
Adult men using nitrates for cardiac conditions are most at risk from these products, which could lower blood pressure to dangerous levels due to their interactions with these drugs. Some distributors, including Nalpac and Gear Isle, have voluntarily recalled the products, although Gear Isle claims it does not manufacture any of the items sold on its site.
Interestingly, honey products have also been found to contain sildenafil and tadalafil, leading to recalls by companies such as Pure Vitamins and Natural Supplements of Tampa. These include single-serve plastic tubes under names like Boner Bear Honey and Red Bull Extreme. The FDA notes that there were only one prior recall in 2022 for a similar product, Kingdom Honey.
No adverse reactions have been reported to the FDA, but perhaps they are too busy having chocolate-fueled fantasies to report anything.
