The JMGO N3 Ultimate portable projector is an impressive device that outshines its rivals in terms of brightness and adaptability, but falls short in other areas. After a few weeks of testing, it’s hard to argue with the raw placement flexibility enabled by its motorized gimbal system, which ensures image quality remains high even when projection angles deviate from the norm.
However, while the N3 Ultimate boasts an advertised 5800 ISO lumens, this figure is only achieved in Dynamic mode—a setting that distorts colors to unnatural green hues and roars with fans. In more practical usage modes, it still manages a respectable 4600 ISO lumens, which is notably brighter than Anker’s Nebula X1 flagship.
The projector’s color accuracy is commendable when set to Movie mode, but this mode operates at half the brightness. The N3 Ultimate handles various surfaces and ambient light conditions with aplomb, adapting its image quality accordingly. Yet, its sound system leaves something to be desired without the optional satellite speakers from Anker.
Despite its flaws, the N3 Ultimate could indeed replace a television for some users owing to its impressive brightness and excellent color reproduction. Its lossless placement options make it a versatile addition to any home or outdoor setup, though the absence of an integrated handle makes it less than ideal as a true portable device.
