While the unveiling of iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 may not have blown away the audience like its predecessor did in terms of sweeping redesigns, there's plenty to look forward to. The operating systems are set to roll out later this year, focusing on stability improvements that will make everyday tasks a little easier.
The highlight includes an upgraded Siri AI, which not only looks different but also behaves smarter and more contextually aware. Users can now type or speak naturally with Siri and have access to previous conversations across devices. The assistant has even been integrated into the camera app, making it easier than ever to use Siri for visual searches.
Apple is pushing hard on child safety features too, with a new Setup Assistant that lets parents tailor what apps are available to kids. For older iPhones and iPads, expect a significant boost in performance, from faster app launches to quicker photo uploads. The Liquid Glass design has also seen an upgrade, offering more control over its transparency.
Despite the upgrades, it’s worth noting that not all new features will be available on every device. Siri Intelligence remains exclusive to select iPhone models and iPads, meaning older devices might miss out on some of the AI magic. As always, Apple recommends backing up your device before installing any beta updates, especially if you use it daily.
