Meta has revealed upcoming updates to its video-editing app, Edits. The new features include an AI assistant that will assist creators in brainstorming content ideas and understanding their performance, as well as a desktop version of the app for more precise control over editing processes.
By integrating these tools directly into the platform, Meta aims to keep creators engaged on Instagram while competing with TikTok and YouTube. The AI assistant uses data from Instagram such as views and video-retention insights to provide suggestions based on performance trends, encouraging more frequent posting among creators.
The desktop version will allow for seamless workflow sync between mobile and desktop devices, making it easier for advanced editing tasks. Among other new features is a Beta tab that offers early access to experimental tools still under development, fostering feedback from the creator community.
Creators can now see more detailed metrics about their audience demographics and engagement times, allowing them to tailor content effectively. They will also be able to create multiple versions of content for testing performance before publishing.
The app already sees a higher save rate and reshare rate compared to non-Edits content on Instagram. With these new features, it's clear Meta is aiming to further strengthen its position in the creator tools market against competitors like CapCut.
