Would you run into a crowded lecture hall, bellow “fartcoin” at the top of your lungs?
If so, and should you have the means to document this on video, you may claim a reward of approximately $1,000 in fartcoin—a meme cryptocurrency trading at a little over 10 cents. This is just one of many bounties offered by Pump.Fun GO, which allows users to ‘pay anyone to do anything.’
The feature promises further accusations of lawlessness and deceptive practices for Pump.Fun, already a lightning rod for controversy. Many bounties are flooded with AI-generated imagery, while others are strikingly dystopian or harmful.
Andrew Ford Lyons, a technologist who works on digital security projects, warns that GO is incentivizing coercion, harassment, and significant physical and legal risks. He notes that the exploitative element is obvious: someone with money can outsource degradation to someone with less resources or fewer protections.
The feature has led to predictable problems, as its name implies, and Pump.Fun helped supercharge the memecoin boom by making it possible for anyone to create their own token on the public Solana blockchain in minutes. Most of these coins derive little value from any underlying utility.
