Global music streaming service Deezer has unveiled its latest feature, 'Remix Lab,' allowing users to creatively remix songs with the consent of original artists. Unlike other platforms relying on AI for remixes, Deezer's tool offers in-app options like adjusting tempo and adding reverb.
The new feature aims to enrich the listening experience by fostering a deeper connection between fans and their favourite music directly within the Deezer app. Artists are compensated for every stream of these remixed tracks, marking a step towards more human-centric innovation in the streaming industry.
While currently available only in France, this feature could signal an alternative direction to AI-generated content on other platforms. Deezer also plans to host remix contests with winners receiving exclusive merchandise and tickets to events, adding a competitive edge for users.
The platform’s stance against AI reflects its commitment to direct artist participation, ensuring that each track is fully respected and remunerated. This move could redefine the balance between technology and human creativity in music streaming.
