Adobe has snapped up Topaz Labs, an innovator in AI image and video enhancement, to bolster its Creative Cloud suite. The acquisition aims to integrate Topaz’s advanced tools into Adobe’s Firefly AI app and editing suites, making it easier for professionals to refine their creations with AI.
Topaz Labs has long provided solutions like Astra for upscaling videos and Wonder for retouching images. Their Emmy-winning technology simplifies running large models on consumer-grade GPUs, a key feature Adobe will now incorporate into its own products. This move ensures that Adobe’s users can continue to access cutting-edge AI tools without switching to rivals.
“Topaz Labs brings deep expertise in optimizing large, complex AI models to run directly on device,” says Deepa Subramaniam of Adobe. “This will allow us to deliver faster, more responsive experiences for customers and make advanced AI more accessible and cost-effective for creatives.”
The deal aims to keep users within Adobe’s ecosystem by providing them with the latest in AI-enhanced editing tools. With competition from Canva and Blackmagic Design heating up, this acquisition is a strategic move to maintain Adobe's market dominance.
Adobe expects the transaction to close in the second half of 2026, cementing its position as a leader in AI-driven creative solutions.
